Ταξιδεύοντας στο νότιο άκρο του Αιγαίου πελάγους μια μαζική μετατόπιση της ηφαιστειακής λάβας εμφανίζεται μπροστά σας.
This is Santorini, the deep sea island. Here you understand the meaning of the words: Magnificence, Stateliness, Beauty, Awe. Awe which you will constantly sense when you realize that the depths of the earth lie in front of you and you see the white little houses, like a line made of lace on top of the red and black rocks, staring gloriously and defying the volcano. Santorini existed and was developed in such a different way from any other island. It was buried under the depths on the earth and was reborn many times.
It sank and emerged from the bottom of the sea again and again. Santorini, as a result then called - STROGILI - (round) island, given this name because of its round shape, got the unique shape we see today after its numerous battles against the volcano and consists of the islands of: Thira, Aspronisi, and in the centre where the worldwide known 'caldera' was formed, the volcano emerges tranquil, quiet, threatening. Before you even step on it you are fascinated by it. The more you discover it, the more you see its contrasts and uniqueness and the more you will be fascinated by it from one day to the other.
When you discover Santorini's picturesque little villages, each one unique, swim in the sea of the beautiful black sandy beaches of Perissa, Vlihada, Kamari, or the deep red beach of Akrotiri, go on an excursion in the 'caldera' to see the volcano, visit one of the 300 white churches, and if you happen to be in one many local fairs, or taste the magnificent wine of Santorini and the traditional meze offered in abundance you will be fascinated.

Akrotiri was the center of a major Aegean civilization of the mid 16 th century B.C. This center, although influenced significantly by Crete , the dominant power in the region at the time, nevertheless managed to retain its own characteristic features.
